Well, first off, let's start with some basic knowledge. Who, you may ask, are Squall and Rinoa? Well, Squall is the protagonist of Final Fantasy VIII, a mercenary who wields a gunblade. Rinoa is the leader of a resistance group in Timber, who hires Squall and his friends to help with her attack on the President. In the game Squall slowly finds himself falling for her, but I've noticed a few flaws with that.

Why I hate the Pairing (and Rinoa)
1. He only decided to save her on his own twice. She needs Squall to save her about four times during the game; when she decided to go against her father and got caught by Edea, when she was possessed by Ultimecia and was supposed to be doomed to float an eternity in space, When she got back to Earth and was supposed to be frozen for the protection of the world, and then when she was taken by Seifer and pushed into Adel. Sure, she goes back to save Squall during the D-District Prison capture thingy, but Squall was already well on his way out of there, thanks to Zell. ANYWAYS, when she was in danger of being eaten by Iguions, Squall had no intentions of saving her. It was only when Irvine called him "cold" and pretty much pressured him into going did he relent and go to help her out. He did choose to go out and save her when she was floating in space, but when they returned and she was supposed to go, he let her, because he thought she was old enough to make her own decisions. He was wrong. Quistis had to tell him "you're a fool." for him to go back and save her. (which is pretty stupid considering all the danger that could have caused). and then he chooses to save her when Adel gets her manly hands on Rinoa, but that's besides the point.

2. I hardly see Rinoa care for him. Throughout the game we hear of Squall's problems, but she hardly ever does. Whenever they were together it was all about "I'm so scared." or "why won't you just trust us?!" He was forced to spend time with her, not to mention everyone was pushing him into her. Squall was new to a social life, and his mind was impressionable. When everyone told him he was wrong he would cave in to the pressure. The only time he did open up to Rinoa was when she was in a coma, for pete's sake!

3. I'm pretty sure Rinoa's shallow. What was the reason that she went to the SeeD ball? To find Cid. What made her approach Squall and force him to dance with her? The fact that he was "the best looking guy there." Let's not forget that she was interested in Seifer at the time (later on she admits that she thought she was in love with him), so what the hell was she doing flirting with Squall? Especially when he told her no! bitch can't take a hint? Okay, better stop, getting out of control again...

4. Rinoa pretty much went for Squall as soon as she thought Seifer was dead. How cold is that?

Rinoa really did disappoint me. I thought she was going to be a strong, capable and kind female lead. Instead we got another classic "damsel in distress." I believe that Rinoa isn't aware of just how messed up in the head Squall is, and that when she does, she won't be willing to take it on. And, just to try to be fair, Squall was too weak-minded to hold onto himself. He allowed everyone to influence him, which is why I personally prefer the Squall I was introduced to at the beginning of the game. I usually prefer not to argue, since I don't believe that one side can ever really persuade the other, but what I've written is quite provocative (and maybe even offensive) so I'm prepared anyways.

RULES
hate the couple. You don't have to hate Rinoa. Heck, you can even hate Squall. You can even love both characters. Just hate something that has to do with the pairing. Just send me a note with the title "i wanna join" or something like that, put the cult on watch, and you're in.
